A straight path so clear to see
Yet, abandoned every day
Consumed by the greed of this world
My heart full of black
Burning like tar, lessened
Only through purification
Oh, how I have failed to see
How you have given me life
In this world, a stranger
To follow you and only you
Free me of the love of this world
If there remain tar in my heart
Let it ignite my arrogance
Shelter me, as a baby is sheltered
Those around me, a womb
My thoughts only pregnant of good
As I came in this world crying
That I may leave crying, for your sake
Every tear drop, virtuous
In your name, alone
Prepared to gaze upon you
Light in my soul
That the angels may smell
And say, “He is of the good”
He is of the companions of the right.
